Jocelyn has been practising as a Barrister & Solicitor for more than 35 years. After practising in Auckland, Tauranga and Rotorua, she and her husband David returned to Cambridge in 1982.
Jocelyn has strong ties to Cambridge having completed her own High School education here and returning to raise her family. Jocelyn has two children, Emma is a lawyer working in Wellington and Rob is an accountant in Melbourne.
In 1996 Jocelyn was appointed as the Coroner of the Cambridge District and continued in that role until June 2007 when part time Coroners were replaced by full time Coroners.
Jocelyn's husband David is an insurance broker. His firm, Cooney Financial Services, shares the premises at 22 Dick Street, Cambridge with Cooney Law.
While Jocelyn practices in several main areas of law, in particular family law, she is committed to continuing the development of the conveyancing practice of the firm.
Jocelyn is the Honorary Solicitor for a number of community and charitable organisations including Cambridge Parents Centre, Grey Power Cambridge, Cambridge Creative Fibre, Cambridge Society for Arts, Cambridge Health and Community Trust and Cambridge Riding for the Disabled. She is also a Trustee of the Waipa Community Trust and Cambridge Autumn Festival Trust.
